about

Lotst. My girlfriend sometimes sleeps over on Friday night even though she has a morning seminar Saturday morning. She has to catch the 51 bus early, so we get up at 06.00 AM. Even though I could sleep for as long as I’d like (or well, not really though), I like to get up and get her some light breakfast and say goodbye. Lotst was stared on one of these days, one of the first ones actually. I realized that I had loads of time to spend doing whatever I wanted while the others were asleep, so I got out my computer to my girlfriends el-piano that is in my apartment, and started recording some samples. I put something together, and while the others were waking up around ten’o’clock, Søren came for a visit. As Thea was making French toast for us all, Søren took my computer and asked what I was up to. He listened to what I had put together, and I went to make some tea. When I came back I came to find that he had started cutting and slicing and pasting all of my recordings in new ways, and I was baffled by how fast he just took my thing, and I found what he was doing to it to sound fantastic. So we spent the whole day doing just this, cutting and slicing and pasting the humble tones of el-piano I played in those early hours, watching the world outside turn from night to day.

As day passed and night came, we realized that what the track needed was vocals. So we did vocals, and we hope that’s not too weird in this context. The name will remain a mystery but the lyrics wont.
